One evening in late december 2013 I decided to go for a stroll in Orchard Road.
The road was transformed into a galaxy of colorful christmas lights.
Still at about 30°C and full of people, there was an incredible
atmosphere.
Parrots flew noisily over the road and between the buildings. There was a very relaxt and joyful mood.
Orchard Road had its origins as an unnamed country road passing through
fruit orchards, nutmeg plantations, and pepper farms in the early 1830s.
The road got his name from this orchards that lined the road at that time.
Nowadays Orchard Road has been transformed into the main shopping
street of Singapore, with over 5.000 retail, dining and entertainment
establishments.
