I was raised on the countryside in a small village. There was not much to see but fields, cattle, the large grey North Sea.
Whenever I saw a plane on the sky, I always wondered what it would look like from the inside and where it would probably fly to.
My
anchestors come from Eastern Friesland, the north coast of Germany -
the cold grey North Sea. So as many people from the coast, I probably
have some seafarers blood in me.
Up to this day, like many of my fellows, I could never get used to the cold weather in Germany.
And, I was always full of curiosity, fortunately this has remained up to today.
I had my first flight as
a young soldier with the Transall, a twin engine military transport
aircraft. What a uncomfortable and wobbly affair, this is the real
flying experience, as it mostly flys on an altitude where it is not so
steady. No comparison to the Business Class comfort of a modern Airbus
A380.
Years later my profession gave me the task and opportunity to travel to distant countries.
The boy from the countryside was airborne!
The megacitys in Asia and North America, my curiosity was satisfied and grew at the same time.
That is the background of these pictures and of the small storys I added to them.
So actually I made this website for my sake, to avoid that the memories fade away.
Of course everyone is invited to have a look at it and to get aboard to meet My Places.
